Reviews: Soon to be released

janeThe times of our lives by Jane Costello

Release date: March 27, 2014

The brilliant new novel from the Sunday Times Top 10 bestselling author .Three best friends. One five-star hotel. Will it be the holiday of a lifetime . . .? Imogen and her friends Meredith and Nicola have had their fill of budget holidays, cattle-class flights and 6 a.m. offensives for a space by the pool. So when Meredith wins a VIP holiday at Barcelona’s hippest new hotel, they plan to sip champagne with the jet set, party with the glitterati and switch off in unapologetic luxury. But when the worst crisis of her working life erupts back home, Imogen has to juggle her BlackBerry with a Manhattan, while soothing a hysterical boss and hunting down an AWOL assistant.

Between a robbery, a run-in with hotel security staff and an encounter on a nudist beach that they’d all rather forget, the friends stumble from one disaster to the next. At least Imogen has a distraction in the form of the gorgeous guy who’s always in the right place at the very worst time. Until, that is, his motives start to arouse a few suspicions . . . Hilarious and heart-warming by turns, The Time of Our Lives is Jane Costello at her romantic best.

It is very hard to talk about this book without spoilers. Meredith wins and all expenses paid holiday to Barcelona’s new “It” hotel/spa. Packing up her two best friends they head off into an adventure that is just Murphy’s law. It is an hysterical mis-adventure.

For me this book is the quintessential Chick-lit book, this is what all other chic-lits should measure up to.

The time of our lives was warm, witty, funny and shows what true friendship is all about. If nothing else, what happens on holiday- stays on holiday.

I thought so much of this book- that this years it is my Mother’s day gift to my Mum and Aunts.

wolfThe Wolf Siren by Karen Whiddon

Release date: April 1st, 2014

Resistance is futile… As Pack Protector, Kane McGraw never gets involved
with the victims he saves. But Lilly Gideon has intrigued him ever since he helped free her from a religious compound. So when he learns that she’s still in danger, he can’t stay away. Years of psychological torture have left Lilly without the ability to control her shifter nature. Any man she touches is driven mad by an all-consuming desire. Though she wants Kane, she’s forced to deny him the release they most crave. That is, until he decides it’s time to take matters – and her – into his own hands…

This book is part of a larger series called the pack. It is written in such a way that you can pick and choose which books you prefer to read. As a stand alone book, you have all the background information that you need to enjoy the story.

The Wolf siren centres around Kane and Lilly. Kane meets Lilly when he saves her from a cult, and is instantly intrigued with her. This was a great shape shifter/Werewolf book. I really want to read all the books in this series. I really enjoyed this book and have to admit there were parts that Kane gave me butterflies in my stomach. I am now a Karen Whiddon fan for life.

The Execution Underground – Hunters of the supernatural…But at what
price?

Exorcist David Aronowitz is a member of the Execution Underground. When a demon slips into the seductive body of the only woman he’s ever loved, David must confront the heartbreak of their past to save her.

The piece of her heart Allsún O’Hare gave to David so long ago left her trapped between two worlds:the Fae and the human. Fate soon reunites her with her greatest temptation – and biggest mistake. Swept into a wicked game, David must decide if saving Allsún’s life is worth sacrificing his own – and the future of humanity itself.

This is book two in the series. I have not read the two previous books, but the book can easily stand alone. The whole premise of the book is exciting David Aronowitz, as a exorcist working for the execution underground.

There are some really tender moments between him and Allusun and you felt like this was the second chance they needed to be together. Well, they do say three is a crowd because Allusun has a little demon issue of her own.

I enjoyed that book and I will be looking to read the first book in the series. If you love paranormal romance, then this is one not to miss.
